London Fashion Week: Kristian Aadnevik

Sunday 17th February 2013

Coming from a Fashion background, LFW excites me every season. Now working within the beauty industry, I look at fashion week from a completely different side. This season, one of my beauty clients, Smooch Cosmetics, teamed up with Elias Hove and designer Kristian Aadnevik.

We sponsored the make up for the show and my gosh, Elias did us proud! The 15 models looked completely beauty with a soft take on a smokey eye. They wore Smooch Liquid Eyeliner with Filthy Rich eye shadow. They had lush contoured cheekbones featuring Smooch Bronzed Bronzer.

The clothes were on another level. I had high expectations as I’ve loved his previous collections but this show exceeded my hopes! Featuring a dark, almost gothic colour scheme with rich looking velvet, leather, lace and sheer chiffon. Easily one of the most wearable collections I’ve ever seen.

Creative Saturday

Having a full time job leads to not a lot of time for random creative days. However, I decided today was the day I got back behind a sewing machine. It’s probably been a good 3/4 years since I’d created something for myself. Since studying Textiles through GCSE and A Level’s, I have basic skills, but I also have a lovely sister who has a great deal of skills in creating incredible garments.

I set myself a simple task of a gathered skirt. I picked the fabric from a box of donated vintage fabric and chose a lovely blue floral print with small red and coral poppies. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out! What do you think?

I also customised two dresses during the day. I transformed one little black dress into a little black skirt with a neon pink zip along the length of the skirt. I turned a bright pink body con dress into a body con skirt. I had a maxi skirt that lacked in excitement so I split the seams, attached together along the bottoms and turned it into a dropped hem mini!

Hello to new items for the new year!
